DANISH COFFEE STRIP | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 2 1/2 c. flour 2 tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. butter 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 can prepared pie filling (I use cherry) Dissolve yeast in water. Cut butter into dry ingredients. Add beaten egg, dissolved yeast and vanilla. Divide dough into 2 parts. To make each strip, use a strip of foil the length of your 11 x 15-inch pan. Sprinkle lightly with flour, then pat or roll dough into a rectangle. Spread 1/2 can of fruit filling down center. Fold over each side, lift into pan and tuck the foil so as to not interfere with baking. Repeat with second strip. Bake right away at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Frost lightly with a powdered sugar frosting and sprinkle with sliced almonds and a few Maraschino cherries. |
