STEAK 'N SAUERKRAUT 
2 (1-inch thick) slices sirloin steak
1 1/2 cans sauerkraut, rinsed
2 med. onions
3/4 to 1 c. bacon grease, melted

Cut steak into bite-size pieces. Rinse sauerkraut to taste. (Twice in cold water.) Place sauerkraut in bottom of heavy skillet. Place steak on top, season with salt and pepper and onions (1 on each side). Pour bacon grease over this. Pour boiling water, enough to cover meat. Place, covered, in a 350 degree oven, 2 to 2 1/2 hours, until meat is tender (stir after 1 hour).

Serve with mashed potatoes, green peas and Italian bread.
