SUPER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
2/3 c. butter
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 heaping c. chocolate chips
1 heaping c. chopped nuts

Cream butter, shortening and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs and continue to beat until all incorporated and fluffy. Mix flour, soda and salt in separate bowl and add to butter/sugar mixture. Mix until well blended but don't overbeat. Add chips and nuts and mix to incorporate. Chilling dough in refrigerator helps dough hold its shape when baking - cookies are rounded instead of flat, so chill at least one hour before baking.

Spoon onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 375 degrees for about 12-15 minutes. Cool for a minute or two on pan then transfer to cooling rack until completely cool.

Makes about 4-6 dozen.
