GRANDMA RUTH'S BANANA BREAD 
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 c. milk
3 c. flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. mashed bananas
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a loaf pan. Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly. Add milk and bananas. Blend dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add to banana mixture. Blend in nuts. Pour into pan and bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
