BANANA DOUGHNUTS 
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. mashed bananas
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. buttermilk
5 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs and beat well. Combine bananas, vanilla and buttermilk; add to creamed mixture alternately with sifted dry ingredients.

Roll 1/3 inch thick on lightly floured surface; cut with floured cutter. Let stand 15 minutes. Fry in hot deep fat (375 degrees) about 3 minutes. Turn once.
