SWEDISH OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cups oats

Heat oven to 350°F and bake cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet for 8 minutes. Spoon on topping and return to oven for 4 to 5 minutes.

Makes 2 to 3 dozen cookies.

TOPPING:

1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine
1 tbsp. corn syrup
1/3 cup almonds, chopped
1/8 tsp. almond extract

Bring sugar, butter and corn syrup to a boil, then add almonds and extract.
