CHOCOLATE BEER CAKE 
1 3/4 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, separated
2 squares (2 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
3/4 c. any beer

Mix and sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together 3 times. Cream butter until soft. Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating until well blended. Add chocolate. Beat until smooth. Add flour alternately with beer, a small amount at a time, beating until smooth after each addition.

Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Turn into 2 greased, 7-inch layer tins. Bake in moderate 375 degree oven 30 minutes or until done. Spread Butter Frosting generously between and on top of layers after cooling.
