Do you really just add all ingredients in the same bowl? No creaming the sugar and butter add eggs then stir in flour?

Thanks for sharing this most fabulous recipe, I have made it several times and it is delicious. I'd like to make a suggestion, if I may, as I make it in an 8x8-inch square pan; instead of 1 cup measurements, I use 3/4 cup, 3/4 teaspoon of the baking soda and salt and 1 3/4 tsp of the baking powder but still use 2 eggs and the 3/4 cup of cocoa and it is wonderful every time; I hope this helps! (By the way, my oven is not working, so it gets baked in my toaster oven for about 40 minutes).

First of all, a warning; do NOT try this in a 9x9 pan unless you want to spend a half hour cleaning up spilled cake batter in the oven! (if you want to do it for the smaller pan, cut the ingredients by 1/4). With that being said, I "tweaked" this recipe and used one cup of Sumatran coffee and one cup of eggnog (it was on sale for fifty cents a quart) instead of boiling water and milk. It wasn't pretty, but, it was indeed saved, moist and delicious after I covered the unattractive top with chocolate frosting made of 1/2 cup of cocoa, about 3/4 cup of powdered sugar, a dash of salt, a couple teaspoons of milk and a little vanilla, all whipped together. Thanks!

This cake is by far the best homemade chocolate cake I have ever made. I did not have enough oil on hand, so I used unsalted butter, and the flavor and moistness is incredible! Thank you Cooks.com for this delicious moist chocolate cake recipe.

I made it exactly as is, and it was delicious, moist, fluffy and just superb. I put fresh whipped cream with Vanilla Essence in the center and then iced it with a Dark Chocolate Ganache. Everyone loved it.

It is my new Cake recipe to use all the time.
Cheers, Mate!

I was looking for a chocolate hazelnut cake but I found nothing good. I figured if I do a good chocolate cake and add my own twist maybe it'll work out. And o my it did. I only used butter instead of oil because I didn't have oil. I added a 1/2 cup of hazelnut dry creamer and instead of milk I used almond milk. And instead of vanilla exact I used almond. Filled the cake with strawberry and Nutella topped with banana whipped frosting.... yum yum yummy.

I have made this twice now for family birthday parties and it turns out as good as everyone says! Definitely moist and chocolatey. What makes it even better is to use 1 cup melted butter instead of oil. I use only butter for baking; has way more flavor. Try it!

I was skeptical but it turned out great. Put it in 2 - 8 inch spring form pans and the cakes were about 2.5 inches tall. This is so moist and is so good. mix the dry goods together. mix the wet goods separately. put the wets in the drys and mix thoroughly. THEN add the boiling water. It will be runny and you will think it ruined. Its not. use toothpick method to tell doneness. I promise, this one works better than a box cake.

Have never baked a cake before. Baked this one for my wife for her birthday. It came out perfectly and tastes great. I also added two teaspoons of instant coffee for extra taste. Thank you for a really easy, yet very delicious and very moist, recipe. This is surely a keeper. :-)
