VEGETABLE - BARLEY SOUP 
1 lg. can tomato juice
1 can beef consomme
1 c. water
20 oz. frozen mixed vegetables (corn, green beans, carrots)
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. basil
1 bay leaf
1 shake thyme
1/3 c. barley

Mix all ingredients in large pot, except barley. Bring to boil, stir in barley. Simmer until barley is done. Great served with corn bread on a snowy winter day.
