FIG COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. mashed fig preserves
1 c. chopped pecans

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Blend in flour and soda; fold in figs and pecans. Drop by tea-spoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown.
