CROSS-CUT PICKLE SLICES 
6 lb. med. cucumbers (4 qt., sliced)
1 1/2 c. sliced onions
1/3 c. salt
2 trays ice cubes
4 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed
3 c. white vinegar

Wash cucumbers, slice into 1/8 inch slices. Add onions. Add salt and mix thoroughly. Cover with ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours. Drain. Combine sugar, spices and vinegar; heat to boiling. Add cucumbers and onions and heat 5 minutes. Pack into jars. Process 5 minutes.
