GLAZED LEMON BREAD 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
3/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
Juice of 1 lemon
Grated rind of 1 lemon
2/3 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. sugar

Cream the shortening and sugar; beat in the eggs. Mix and sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternating with milk. Stir in lemon rind and chopped nuts. Bake in greased bread pan in 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until browned.

Combine the juice of the lemon and 1/4 cup of sugar. Pour over hot bread in pan and return to the oven for 5 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack for about 1 hour.
