1/2 c. butter 4 oz. chocolate 4 eggs, at room temperature 1/2 tsp. salt 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1 c. nut meats, if desired Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and chocolate in a double boiler. While this mixture is cooling, beat the eggs until they are light yellow and foamy. Add salt, sugar, and vanilla gradually while beating continually with electric beater. When this is done, fold in the cooled chocolate quickly by hand with as few strokes as possible. Before the batter is evenly colored, fold in the flour and nut meats quickly also. Bake in a greased 9x9 inch or 9x13 inch pan about 25 minutes. |
