MARIANNE'S CHIFFON CAKE 
2 c. + 4 tbsp. cake flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable oil
4 egg yolks
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 c. egg whites (8)
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. + 4 tbsp. cold water

Blend flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well. Add in order: oil, egg yolks, water, vanilla and lemon rind. Beat with a spoon until smooth.

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Pour egg yolk mixture over egg whites and gently fold in. Pour into greased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.
