LONG JOHNS 
1 pkg. yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
6 tbsp. shortening, butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tbsp. lemon juice
4 to 4 1/2 c. flour

Mix in order. Let rise until double in size. Punch down. Let rest. Roll out and cut in strips 1 x 6 inches long. Let rise. Fry in deep fat, turn once. Remove and drain. Frost with powdered sugar frosting or dust with powdered sugar.
