HEART HEALTHY SPAGHETTI SAUCE 
In large pan:

1 can (29 oz.) Italian style tomatoes (blend in blender first)
2 cans (to equal approx. 29 oz.) tomato sauce
1 tsp. dried basil leaves
1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1/4 c. dried parsley flakes
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. sugar (optional)

Heat above ingredients until comes to a boil.

In skillet:

1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/4 c. dried minced onions
1/2-1 lb. ground meat (can use ground turkey or ground round steak)

Optional: Saute fresh mushrooms with the saute onions. Brown the meat. Drain off excess liquid. Add this mixture to the tomato sauce and simmer 1-2 hours.
