DATE NUT BALLS 
1 small pkg. seedless dates, chopped
1 stick butter, melted
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
3 c. Rice Krispies

Mix first 4 ingredients and cook slowly for 6 minutes in saucepan (or may be cooked in microwave; stir every 2 minutes), stirring frequently. When mixture cools slightly, add vanilla, nuts and Rice Krispies. Stir until gooey and form into small balls. Put powdered sugar in sack and shake. Or you may place powdered sugar in a medium bowl and roll. Place in airtight container.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
