HOMEMADE SOUP | |
1 BIG soup bone 1 peeled lg. onion, uncut 1 c. okra, cut up 1 tbsp. salt to taste 1/2 tsp. black pepper 4 ribs celery, cut up 2 potatoes, cut up 2 lb. stew meat 2 qt. water 2 cans tomatoes or 1 lg. can tomato juice 1/2 can water 4 carrots, cut up 1/2 pkg. macaroni, broken up into 2 inch pieces Combine soup bone, stew meat and onion in large pot. Add 2 quarts water; let boil for 2 to 3 hours. Refrigerate overnight and remove fat from top. Brown okra to deslime. Cut meat into small pieces removing any fat. Add all ingredients to pot. Bring to a boil, then simmer about 40 minutes or until all vegetables are tender. Can be frozen. Very good with crackers or corn bread. |
