MOLASSES CRINKLES | |
1 1/2 c. butter 2 c. brown sugar 2 eggs, just add 1/2 c. molasses 4 1/2 c. flour 4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cloves 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. allspice Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and molasses well. Add flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and allspice. Mix well. Chill well. Mold into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in granulated sugar. Bake 350°F, 10 minutes. Yields 60 servings. I first smelled this cookie baking at the home of my cousin Delroy. Aunt Mae had taken me there and Edith was baking them. They smelled and tasted so good I knew they had to go into my collection of Christmas Cookies. That was back in the late 40's or early 50's and I always include them in my Christmas cookies. |
