MARASCHINO CHERRY NUT BREAD 
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 (8 oz.) bottle maraschino cherry
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Combine shortening, sugar, salt and eggs in a mixing bowl; beat well and set aside. Combine flour and baking powder; mix well. Drain cherries, reserving liquid, mixing well after each addition. Stir in cherries and pecans. Spoon into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bkae at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let cool for 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.
