OLD FASHION PINEAPPLE CAKE | |
1 box Pillsbury Plus yellow cake mix 2 lg. cans crushed pineapple 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 tbsp. Argo cornstarch 1/3 c. cold water Three 9 inch cake layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Mix cake mix as directed on box. Icing: Open cans pineapple and rinse each can out with 1/2 can of water and pour in thick bottom pot. On medium heat add sugar and stir. After boiling 3 minutes; spoon in a container 1 1/2 cups of juice from pineapple. Save this for layers. Mix starch in cold water just to a paste consistency. Put in pot with hot pineapple to thicken. Take off heat and let stand. Place layer on plate and slowly spoon juice over layer to wet. Then thick pineapple icing from pot. Repeat and cover outside with pineapple icing. Let sit for couple of hours before slicing. |
