PORTABELLA MUSHROOMS GRILLED
4 (or more) large mushroom caps, cleaned and stems removed
Balsamic Vinegar (Colavita)
Extra virgin olive oil
Fresh ground sea salt
Fresh ground black pepper
(optional) if you want to make into steak add (Dale's steak seasoning)
(optional) add fresh or dried herbs of your choice
(optional) grated fresh cheese or canned shaker type at the end of cooking
I use Italian type hard cheese your choice, soft will work too

Clean mushrooms with a brush or paper towel. Wipe off dirt. Remove stems start with a row of caps in a container or what works for you. First, salt and pepper (no measurement) to your taste. Sprinkle with vinegar (the more, the better). Add Dale's or other steak seasoning, if wanted, or any fresh herbs.

Top off with oil. Put another layer of mushroom caps and start over again with another layer. Marinate for 30 minutes to overnight in refrigerator. Grill on charcoal or gas grill (can be broiled inside as well).

Cook until wilted or tender. Watch open flames. Will flare up 4-6 minutes per side or don't flip. Total time about 12 minutes (depends on cap size and heat). This is an original recipe.

Enjoy!!!

 Sam Campbell (Colorado) says:
Amazing, I have cooked mine the same way for over twenty years. I add a sprinkle of liquid smoke and some Worcestershire sauce to the marinade. I also sometimes add shitake, oyster and shelf mushrooms. Different textures, different taste.
