MOLASSES STACK CAKE 
4 c. plain flour
2/3 c. white sugar
1/2 c. molasses
2 eggs
Just enough boiling water to make stiff dough
2/3 c. Crisco
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. ground ginger
4 tsp. baking powder

Make a hole in middle of flour; add all ingredients except boiling water. Mix together well then add just a little of the water. Put dough on floured board and knead until can handle well. Divide dough in five parts. Roll out on board and cut with fluted pie pan. Bake one at a time. While one cake is baking, put apple butter on one that is baked. Do this until all are baked. Do not put apple butter on top.
