2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. corn syrup
1 c. buttermilk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, soda, syrup and buttermilk together in large saucepan (it will foam and boil over easily). Bring to boil and cook, stirring to softball stage. Add butter and vanilla. Cool. Beat until thick. Pour into buttered dish.
