FOIL DINNER | |
1/4 lb. ground beef 1 onion, thinly sliced 2 potatoes, thinly sliced 2 carrots, slice into strips salt and pepper, to taste 2 sheets heavy duty foil, 18 inches long a few crush crackers tossed in butter (optional) soy sauce (optional) garlic and onion powder Spread heavy duty foil on a table, shiny side up. Shape hamburger into a thick patty and place in center of foil. Slice onion and carrots thinly since they cook more slowly. The carrot will cook more quickly when cut into thin strips. If you would like to use baby carrots, steam them until almost tender before adding, or serve separately. Slice the potato more thickly because it cooks in less time than the other ingredients. Place vegetables on top of the hamburger patty; season to your taste with salt and pepper, add a pat of butter if desired, then sprinkle with a few drops of water or soy sauce. Sprinkle lightly with garlic and onion powder. Bring edges of foil together and seal well with drugstore fold. Repeat with second sheet of foil. Grill on barbecue for 30 minutes or bake in a 350°F oven for about 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Easy clean-up! Easy to pack up for day trips, barbecues and camping. Makes 1 serving. |
