SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 lb. split peas
1/2 lb. bacon, cut up
3 or 4 med. size potatoes
1 1/2 lg. onions, chopped

In large pot cook peas with lots of water. Fry bacon until crisp. Saute onions, add to peas using bacon fat. Salt and pepper to taste. When peas are just about cooked, peel potatoes and cut to cup size. Add potatoes and cook until done. Soup will be thick. Serves 6 to 8.
