ORIENTAL BEEF OR CHICKEN WITH
RICE
 
1 1/2 lb. sirloin steak, sliced thin (or chicken)
2 med. onions, sliced thick
6 tops spring onion
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 can bean sprouts
1 can bamboo shoots
1 can water chestnuts, sliced
1/2 c. beef broth or chicken broth
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 tbsp. sherry
2 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. peanut oil

Use 2 tablespoons oil and cook beef for 1 minute. Chicken will take longer. Stir fry all vegetables adding oil as needed for 4 minutes. Mix beef broth, soy sauce, sherry and sugar. Add and cook for another minute. Chow mein noodles and almonds may be sprinkled on top when served.

RICE:

Rice
1 onion, chopped
Soy sauce

Cook onion and rice together. Add enough soy sauce to turn rice brown.
