ACORN COOKIES
1 c. melted butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
6 oz. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Stir butter, sugar, 3/4 cup pecans and vanilla until well mixed. Sift together flour and baking powder. Stir into butter mixture. Mix well.

Shape dough into balls using a rounded teaspoon for each. Flatten one side by pressing on ungreased cookie sheet. Pinch top to a point to resemble an acorn. Bake at 375 degrees about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.

Melt chocolate over warm water. Dip bottom of flat end of cookies into chocolate, then into remaining pecans. Cool on waxed paper. Makes 4 dozen.
