1 egg
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 stick butter
Self-rising corn meal mix

Beat egg and milk with butter and enough meal to make a fairly thin batter. Pour into a cold skillet which has been generously greased with Crisco shortening - do not use oil or bread will stick. Bake at 450 degrees until golden brown.
