DATE NUT COOKIES 
Mix:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. sweet or sour cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift together:

1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt

Add dry ingredients to butter, sugar, egg mixture. Mix well. Roll out dough and spread filling on, roll up and put in refrigerator until chilled. Slice and bake on greased cookie sheet at 425 degrees approximately 8 to 10 minutes.

FILLING:

3/4 lb. dates, cut up
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cook slightly.
