DATE SWIRL COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter (2 sticks)
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vanilla

DATE FILLING:

1/2 lb. dates
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. nutmeats

Mix all dough ingredients. Refrigerate overnight. Roll out on waxed paper next day.

Cook date mixture; dates, water and sugar 10 minutes. (Add nuts after mixture has cooled.)

Spread date and nut mixture over rolled out dough mixture. Roll up into a long roll. Refrigerate overnight. (Can freeze.) Cut into 1/8 inch slices. Bake at 350 degrees until brown, 10-15 minutes. Watch close.
