1 pt. whole milk
1 shaker (I used a quart jar)
Soda crackers (enough for class)

Shake milk, which is room temperature, until a soft butter forms. Small children will begin to understand how butter is made from milk and will also understand ice cream and cheese products. This is very old classroom exercise and quite easy. It is also one of the best.
