SWEET AND SOUR RED CABBAGE 
1 qt. red cabbage
2 tart apples, sliced
2 tbsp. butter or bacon fat
4 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
2 tbsp. flour
Salt and pepper to taste

Shred cabbage fine; add salt, pepper and apples. Heat fat in heavy skillet and add cabbage and sliced apples. Sprinkle flour over and add sugar and vinegar. Let simmer. Serves 4-6.
