1 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 egg, well beaten 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. sour milk 3 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. jelly Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Cream butter and brown sugar. Stir in 1 well-beaten egg and vanilla. Add flour mixture with sour milk. Add 3 cups sifted flour, enough to make a soft dough. Chill, roll 1/4 inch thick, cut. Spoon jelly in center of half of cookie. Cut out centers of remaining cookies. Fit these cookies over ones with jelly, seal edges. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. |
