KAHLUA LIQUEUR 
3 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Yuban instant coffee
3 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. 80 proof vodka
3 tbsp. vanilla

In large saucepan, stir together, sugar and coffee, stir in water and salt. Over high heat bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and boil gently 1 hour. If mixture boils too rapidly, volume will be reduced and syrup will be too thick. Remove from heat. Stir in vodka, then vanilla and cool. Pour into bottles or decanters and close tightly. Makes 1 1/2 quarts.
