MR. & MRS. CANDY SNOWMAN | |
(This recipe intended for children to prepare with adult supervision.) 1 (2.5 oz.) bag spearmint or peppermint flavored meltaway puff candies Miniature nutcups Extra thin licorice (red or black) Stiff white decorator icing (glue) Toothpicks Red or green tube icing Glue two candy puffs, flat sides together, one on top of the other. Glue a third puff upright, as pictured. For the scarf, glue a licorice whip around neck. Dip toothpick in red or green icing (use red for green striped candy and green for red-striped candy). Dot color on candies for face. Allow glue icing to dry. With knife, smooth the bottom of snowman so he will stand upright. Assemble candy puffs as for snowman. Flatten nutcup and cut in half with scissors. In one half of the nutcup, make a slit (Fig. 1). Fit around top ball of candy to form a bonnet. Using other nutcup half, cut out the half circle leaving a semi-circle of pleats (Fig. 2). Glue around waits for apron. If desired, glue licorice to top edge of the pleats to make apron sash. Add facial features and buttons; smooth bottom. |
