1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour

Cream first 3 ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and mix. Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet. Grease bottom of glass and dip in sugar or colored sugars. Flatten balls dipping after each ball. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
