CANNED GREEN BEANS 
1/2 gal. fresh green beans
1/2 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1 qt. water

Prepare beans as for table use, either whole or broken. Mix remaining ingredients in a large pan and heat. Add beans and boil 20 minutes. Place in sterilized jars and seal. Before using, pour off liquid and put beans in fresh water. Season with a piece of bacon or ham bone. Boil until tender, about 20 minutes.
