1/3 c. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 lb. room temperature butter
1/3 c. peanut butter
2/3 c. confectioners' sugar
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
6 oz. chocolate candy kisses (35 to 40)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter baking sheets. Combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder and soda. Beat the 1/4 pound butter with peanut butter. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually beat in dry ingredients. Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls.

Press a chocolate kiss, flat-side down, into each ball and then press dough up sides of kiss until only point is visible. Put cookies on baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Bake until lightly browned at the edges and beginning to brown on top, about 10 minutes.
