3 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
Milk

Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape dough into a ball, and knead lightly 4 or 5 times.

Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface; cut with a 1 3/4 inch biscuit cutter, and place on ungreased baking sheets. Brush biscuits lightly with milk. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen. These are party biscuits to serve with ham, etc.
