DIXIE CORN BREAD 
1 1/2 c. cornmeal (self-rising)
3 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. buttermilk
1 egg, beat slightly
2 tbsp. bacon drippings or melted butter

Sift together 1 1/2 cups cornmeal, flour, and soda. To this mixture, add, buttermilk, egg and bacon drippings. Mix until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into 10 inch ovenproof skillet in which you have melted the butter. Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Serve hot.
