GREENS WITH DUMPLINGS 
Pot of cooked turnip greens
1 egg, beaten
1/4 to 1/3 c. milk
1 tbsp. melted shortening or oil
3/4 c. self rising cornmeal

Combine egg, milk and shortening. Add to cornmeal, stirring until all cornmeal is moistened. Batter should be quite thick. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into pot of boiling greens. Cover. Simmer 20 minutes or until dumplings are cooked. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
