TORT KRAKOWSKI 
1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
4 eggs, separated
1/2 c. poppy-seed filling or fruit jam
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. finely chopped almonds

Mix butter and flour with fork. Add 1 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and egg yolks. Mix until well blended and form into a ball. Chill in the refrigerator for 45 minutes.

On a floured board, roll out dough about 1/2-inch thick. Place on a cookie pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool and spread with poppy-seed filling or fruit jam. Set aside.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar, the lemon juice, and nuts. Blend well and spread over layer of filling. Bake at 200 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
