BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gallon cucumbers (measure before slicing)
8 sm. onions
2 green peppers (chop fine)
1/2 c. salt
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
5 c. vinegar
1 tsp. celery seed
1/2 tsp. whole cloves
5 c. sugar

Stir first five ingredients together and mix with crushed ice, place in container with weight on top and let stand 3 hours.

Boil together the next six ingredients for 3 minutes stir in first mixture and let steam, but not boil. Put in hot jars and seal. Crisp and delicious.
