SOUTH AFRICAN REFRIGERATOR CAKE 
1/2 c. sugar
1 (9 oz.) pkg. animal crackers
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped pecans
2 sticks butter
1 egg

Melt sugar and butter. Add raisins. Remove from heat and add slightly beaten egg. Return to heat and cook for 3 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let cool until slightly warm and add vanilla. Add slightly crushed animal crackers and nuts. Spread in a baking dish and refrigerate until cold. Cut into squares.
