CRANBERRY BREAD 
2 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1/4 c. shortening, melted
1 c. whole cranberries
1/2 c. walnut or pecan meats
Grated rind of 1 orange
Juice of 1/2 lemon, strained
Confectionery sugar

Sift together flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. Mix egg, milk and shortening, and add to dry ingredients. Blend well. Add cranberries, nuts, orange rind. Mix well. Bake in a greased loaf pan, in a 350 degree oven 50 to 60 minutes or until done. Invert on a rack to cool. To the lemon juice add powdered sugar until of spreading consistency. Brush the bread while still hot.
