2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually, cream until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; blend into creamed mixture and chill dough about 1 hour. Roll out and cut with favorite cookie cutter. Bake 6-8 minutes at 350 degrees. Ice with your favorite icing when cool.
