MACARONI AND AMERICAN CHEESE | |
1/2 lb. ziti 3-4 potatoes, cut in eighths 1 lg. onion, quartered, then sliced 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 (28 oz.) can Italian plum tomatoes 2 tbsp. basil Salt and pepper to taste 1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated 3-4 tbsp. Romano cheese, grated Fry onion in oil until tender. Grind Italian tomatoes in a food processor or blender. Add to onions with basil, salt and pepper. Simmer until thick, about 1 hour. Boil ziti and potatoes until tender. Place ziti and potatoes in a serving dish. Sprinkle some of the two cheeses. Add some sauce. Toss. Add more cheese, more sauce, etc. |
