HOLIDAY CRANBERRY BREAD 
2 c. plain flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 orange
Boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 c. walnuts or pecans (1 cup is not too much)
1 c. raw cranberries, cut in half

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda into large bowl and set aside. Juice and grated rind of 1 orange in measuring cup. Add 2 tablespoons butter and boiling water to bring liquid to 3/4 cup. Add egg to orange mixture and add to dry ingredients. Mix until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in chopped nuts and cranberries that have been dredged with a little flour.

Turn into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes to 1 hour. Let stand 24 hours before slicing. This will freeze. Delicious plain or with butter or cream cheese spread on it.
