DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk & enough milk to make 2/3 c.
8-10 apples
2 heaping handfuls corn flakes or Rice Krispies

Mix first 5 ingredients. Roll out half and place on an average size cookie sheet. Crush 2 heaping corn flakes or Rice Krispies over crust. Slice 8-10 apples over this and spread with 1 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll out top crust and place over apples.

Spread the crust with 1 egg white beaten stiff. Bake at 400 degrees for 45-60 minutes. While hot, spread over glaze of 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 tablespoon water.
